Awwww...thanks Christy and I want to spread the love right back to the "LION FORUM TRINITY"--which is:
Pastor David, Terri, and Christy! You guys are the "LFT" ! lol ;)

And of course love to all my brothers and sisters in Christ on this website as well.
I couldn't agree more with you girls, although it struck me one day that any food that I
have put away for an emergency, whether I use it or not, won't go to waste and is just good planning. If God gives the command for Jesus to call out to us to "Come up Hither" and meet him in the air before major calamity strikes, (and I believe He will), then whoever is left in our communities and families will no doubt make good use of the food, and anything else of ours we don't need anymore. Who knows whose lives you may impact even after you're gone in this type scenario? We'll be in Heaven, and in that place there is no want, or need to upgrade! :D But in the meantime we still have to deal with forces of nature, man-made disasters, and all other sorts of emergency situations. I do believe more than ever, we should have a game plan
just in case.

I also had the thought that day to start praying for all the people left here after the Rapture.
Think of the consequences of the great deception which will be upon the whole earth.
Imagine the people who will give their lives to Christ for the first time, and those who did prior to the Rapture but were not sincere or obedient and are still here, and all the persecution they will have to endure. These thoughts made it clear to me to pray for these people's futures as well as pray for more people to accept Jesus NOW. This is the BEST disaster plan anyone could ever have ;)

Christy did you get a Berkey filter yet? How about you Bestucan?

Hi Debra, Christy, and everyone on LLM,

I agree with everything both of you have said. Some people can and do give every opinion and rationale of why we shouldn`t waste time on preparing for what may come before our Lord comes back. Some may even say ... prepping and having a measure of self-sufficiency = no need to rely on our Heavenly Father. To each their own, but I can`t bring myself to fall for this thinking.

I do think we should be in the right spiritual frame of mind and in a very thankful way, praise our Father for a clear mind and obedience to him if he puts it on our hearts to prepare for what may come while we await the return of our Lord Jesus. Thats the frame of mind i strive for.

Being able to have some food , clothing , and shelter, in the event of some event out of our control happening, can help prevent us from having to rely on being forced to submit to the horrible things that may await those that didn`t heed the nudging that our Father may have given us.

Debra, I haven`t purchased a water filter yet... on my LONG list of items I hope to pick up. In the mean time, I fill the 55 gal plastic drums when hurricane season approaches. I again thank my Father for a job and the nudging I believe he has given me , along with the means , to ramp up a couple gears in my preparing for the unknown ahead . I`ve been able to store some whole grains in bulk and other bulk food items and now need to take the time to get the equipment to be able to utilize the bulk food.

My hope -to -get list for the near future includes a pressure canner, and a grainmill to make flour from wheat grain. I pulled out my 25 year old bread machine a couple months ago and have enjoyed relearning how to make bread again from the store bought flour. Yum. I need to be able to make my own flour though, from the whole grain I read about a no- knead recipe for making bread in the oven I hope to try sometime soon. I have been able to pick up a number of cases of canning jars and hope to learn how to can this year and learning to can meats... chicken breast, beef, including hamburger meat, is a near term goal. Thus the need for the pressure canner.

Oh well, too much info here probably. It does give one a sense of satisfaction, being able to prepare your own meals from scratch from home stored items. And yummy to.

I`ll probably be the next person that rescue -central will have to dig out, after they get Christy revived , as I`ll be under the pile of broken glass filled jars of canned chicken, with the next quake. Ok, back to the drawing board, on the next day off, gotta get that glass jar resistant bunker rigged up.

Ahhhh... yesss... Bunkerism.... as David calls it. That`s the ticket.

Love it...just love it. You guys are the best. I say we should get together and buy a farm...lol... In my best dreams.
I'm under attack, here on the internet, big time. I won't be posting any links, as the best virus techs can't figure out where the problem is. I don't want to spread their "love". Ugh.
Prayers go out to you all,
Christy

Hi Christy ,

You scared me for a second, when you said you were under attack. Thought you were feeling tremors and getting ready to run for your life, away from the cupboards full-o-pork-n-beans that were coming after you. Sure glad that`s not the case!

Are the virus bugs able to penetrate your antivirus software or how are you having these problems ? I am not very savvy in this area and only use free stuff downloaded from the net for antivirus, and firewall. Keep crossing my fingers that it keeps working.

Kinda glad I only have a laptop, because due to its portability, I am able to utilize the free services that volunteers from our local library offer once a week, to help with any computer problems.

When you get back on your computer feet, I`m ready to dream about that farm too. Twould be nice wouldn`t it? Hopefully away from earthquake , sunami potential, and hurricane prone areas. Maybe inland USA somewhere ? Nice vacation retreat also ? Hopefully away from any areas that women will be in labor. I`ve got it... a hydroponic farm retreat in David`s basement. Watayathink?

Debra, are you in ? Can you hook us up with the berkey filter supplier and meet us at David`s. I`m sure he and the Mrs. have been looking for a place for the next LLM retreat gettogether. Christy, with your hundreds of posts, maybe you could bend his ear a bit with the proposal ? I would, but I`m a mere, less than 10 posts, club member on LLM.

LOL! I love this discussion and it would be great to live on a farm with all of you. :D I can't say as I look forward to farming again though. I've worked in more than enough fields during my lifetime. I spent most of my summers as a teen out in a melon field, cucumber patch or alfalfa field to keep me out of trouble and not hankering for of lifetime of field work.

I've been praying about why I don't feel the pressure to prepare for the worst. I have such a peace that God will take care of me, that the only thing I really feel impressed to keep on hand is extra bottled water. I got to thinking that maybe I won't be on this earth any more when the really hard times come or maybe I'll be one of the first to get killed when it all comes down. Neither of those things bothers me because frankly being in heaven with my LORD and Savior is MUCH more appealing to me than sticking around down here fighting to survive. I can go a long time without food, but going without water, well that bothers me. Hunger pains tend to lessen but a dry mouth. UGH! It only gets worse. As much as I love the idea of hanging out with all of you that I've come to love, given the choice of where I'd rather be, I'll choose heaven and I'll greet you all when you get there. No weeds, no hunger, only beauty...a land of plenty and our wonderful Savior. :D I"m getting homesick just thinking about it!

Do what you feel God has laid on your heart, but don't worry about tomorrow for God has it covered! Love you all!

I must admit to a silly thing. I just don't want to leave my doggies here with no one to take care of them. I know...but, i can't help it. Otherwise, I'm ready to go!

You guys had me cracking up! It's obvious we all have a good attitude about it, or we couldn't find the humor in it. Terri, I agree with you as well, I would rather be gone that try to survive in a future chaos. My real concern is some kind of scenario where our "power grid" is attacked or shut down and the whole nation could be without power for a long time. This could happen at any moment in this computer age and cause a lot of urban upset, so it doesn't hurt to squirrel away some necessities just in case! I really don't have much stored at the moment but I do believe God will provide regardless. I recently saw a pastor's wife talk about how her husband invited 19 people to dinner when they were first married, and she wasn't informed, and had only roasted one small chicken. She was fretting how she was going to feed all these people! She put all the food on the table, prayed, and each person passed the plate and took large helpings of chicken that seemed to never reduce in size. Everyone was full and satisfied and even after the meal, she had leftover chicken that lasted for 3 days! Just like the loaves and the fishes in the bible. I believe He will multiply for those that need it. Terri, I recall you telling us a similar story last year in the forums but I don't know where to find it. Were you there when the food was multiplied? Tell us again and renew our faith :D

Christy and Bestucan you never know what the future may bring...but I think you'd make great Christian sister roomies! :o ;) I was real estate browsing for fun (daydreaming) and found a GORGEOUS 4,000 sq.ft Farmhouse on 15 acres in the Michigan U.P. for only $89,000! Lots of room to grow and roam! LOL! I think Terri has other plans in her future though *wink to Terri*

Pastor David--he has a great big heart indeed, but all of us in his basement? I think he would go crazy from estrogen overload.... LOLOL

I bought a Berkey Filter (online) for emergencies. Not wholesale, darn it LOL. It's used by the Peace Corp. and missionaries all over the world to make even polluted river water drinkable. I think it was a great investment for around $225 and is totally portable and needs no hook-ups or electricity to work.

I need to invest in more filters however, because these included don't filter out Fluoride. My concern about fluoride poisoning has increased because of the Codex Alimentarius bill that I assume passed Dec. 2009. This bill will allow very high amounts of fluoride in our drinking water among other horrendous changes to our food supply, vitamins, seeds, banning home gardening, etc. http://preventdisease.com/home/tips103.shtml

In this link some of it is debunked: http://www.organicconsumers.org/Politic ... 060202.cfm

Really now, who can we trust this info when we know who runs the system? I'd rather play on the side of caution because I know that Sen. Ron Paul was trying to fight against it getting passed as written, (thank the LORD) but I don't know if he was successful.

I tried to raise awareness against this bill last year but no one seemed to care. I got a few responses but then no follow-ups about spreading the word (on MySpace).

Bestucan, what you're doing is a great idea! I grew up helping my Mom can everything but the kitchen sink from our large gardens my father grew. It's a lot of work, but with an extra hand helping peel, blanch, sterilizing the jars, etc. it's kind of fun. You can't beat the flavor, and the vitamins retained in the food. We ate our harvest all year long and we never had to worry about running out of food during snowstorms or power outages, we always had something in the closet (we had no basement cellar but they keep cool in a dark closet under the staircase). I thought about grinding my own grain too for the nutritional value can't be beat! Now back then, I thought it was weird that we canned and gardened, when none of my friend's families did.
But boy did they love to eat at my house! Only after I got much older did I appreciate all the effort my parents took in providing great food, fresh and home canned, for us. For people raised during the depression era, this isn't a novel idea, but a normal way of life, and I think everyone should try to have some sort of "survival" skills up their sleeves. Keep us informed of your progress Bestucan!

Love all you girls! We'll be ok in the long run, we have THE LORD watching over us!
