Hey! An Economic Depression Party!!! 8-)

Love it! Like I said in te edited post, come on over, I have plenty of canned soup to go around!
We can dig for worms and catch some cat fish in the lake here (plenty of water). The fall garden has been planted. Maybe the grapes, blueberry bushes and fig tree will be producing by then. We can go to the nieghbor's and pick some oranges.
But first, we should have the pre-eonomic depression party. 8-)

Thanks Christy--be looking for me! What do you want me to bring? ;) Pastor Dave knows I meant him no harm whatsoever. He's my bud and tolerates my inquisitive mind. LOL

Say, I am interested in what you have in your emergency pantry Christy. I've researched for information and have a good general idea of what to buy and store, but if you would like to share information I think it would be helpful for everyone searching this topic. This is one of the reasons I like reading forums is because you can get a "review" of your topic as well.

I was thinking of posting a recipe for "Plague Tonic". It's a real simple procedure to make a tincture that is supposed to be very potent against viral and bacterial attacks by boosting your immune system and the ingredients themselves kill pathogens. I know for a fact that Elderberry Extract or Sambucus syrup (Sambucus is the genus name of Elderberry) works in the same way as the Plague tonic. I cannot vouch on which is more potent--probably the Plague Tonic due to it variety of compounds. I saw 2 doctors endorsing the Elderberry against swine and seasonal flu viruses on Christian TV as well. Along with making sure we consume enough Vit D3 we should be covered. I take Carlson's Lemon flavored Cod Liver Oil for that, but I have D3 in capsule form too. I prefer the oil because it has other health benefits and is a "whole food". Minus the liver that is.....

restatement:

The weapons do not disturb me a bit. I am thankful that I still have the right to defend my household. Three times God has allowed me to shew off prowlers in the middle of the night. Also, I'm not a big meater, but I'm thankful that I have the means to hunt down a squirrel or bird if need be. Not all of you will agree with me on this, and I support your right to remain unarmed.

Debra,
I'll keep my eye out for ya and a welcome candle lit in the window. Hey there are elderberry bushes surrounding the lake...no need for store-bought extract. Lot's of cat tails too...all parts are edible!

The pantry:
Canned...
lots of
soup
beans
tuna
chicken
vegies
fruit
chicken
sardines
corned beef hash
spaghettios, ravioli and the like
milk and cheese
olive oil
paper goods (paper towels, toilet paper)
H2O2
Bleach/water purification tabs
Soap
OTC meds
First aid stuff
Dog food
Cat food
Baking soda (brushing teeth, paste for insect bites, cleansing)
Ammo (yes, ammo)
Lighters/matches
lamp oil
camp stove and extra propane
batteries and flashlights
mosquito repellant
extra fleas stuff for animals
manual can openers
dried fruits/nuts
a few Rx meds
a little gold and silver for trading
lot's of colloidal silver
and more...add to it gradually

I use this stuff too and rotate it...so if no emergency, these supplies can still be used.

Wow-- thanks Christy for typing all that out. Just so you know, I have nothing against responsible gun owners. My Dad, for example, grew up extremely poor and practically lived on squirrel meat he hunted during his childhood. He would have starved without a means to hunt. He used to tease me when I was little to gross me out about how tasty the squirrel brains were. :o
I had a BB pistol, I wish I would have kept it. LOL. So good for you! I have watched some episodes of Bear Grylls and his survival show on Discovery channel. I learned some tips and things I would never have thought to use in an emergency survival situation. You are so lucky to have Elderberries growing wild by your house. Ever think of harvesting and dehydrating for future use? I would if I had access to some. From what I've read they are much more powerful in antioxidants than blueberries and other "superfruits".

Also, do you have water stored or are you just preparing to use the purification tablets if necessary? I was reading up on this and am thinking of having water on hand just in case. From what I've gathered from other forums, the kind in thin plastic jugs doesn't last long in storage, but you can buy thicker water jugs, or a different storage concept I saw was a metallicized bag inside a box that hold 5 Gal. per unit. That might be the best bet. I bought a portable Berkey water filter a few years ago and have been saving it for such an emergency, but it doesn't fliter out Fluoride. If that Codex Alimentarious law passes this December (and it most likely will) they will be adding even MORE fluoride to our drinking water... .you know.....so we have really nice teeth..... ( like they did back during WWII)

Deb, I keep some bottled water on hand. I use it, replace it...so it doesn't sit around for long.
I save the jugs in case I ever have to do some quick emergency fill ups from the tap. The lake water would be a last resort for drinking, but it's a comfort to know it's there. I would really love to have a well with an old fashion a hand pump. With this I wouldn't have to buy water at all, as I do to avoid the dreaded flouride from the tap.
