 Prayer for my Mom
Hi Everyone.
My mother is in need of prayer. I spoke with her earlier this evening on the telephone while she was in the emergency room. She tripped over one of the branches that fell during the storm the other night and landed on her right arm, breaking both bones right below her elbow. She needs to have surgery and the doctor said it was a unusual and bad break. My dad called me after the doc had come back in, and the doc said that they were unable to find a orthopedic surgeon to come in on the weekend and do the surgery, so they are just putting her in a split and sending her home until they can try and find someone to operate on her on Monday.
I am very frustrated at this news because our local hospital is famous for not doing what is needed when it comes to emergencies. I'm not sure that they contacted the hospitals in Pueblo and Colo. Springs. Please continue to pray for my mom's healing and that she won't be in a lot of pain. Also please pray that we can find a surgeon that will operate on her and do a good job. I also ask that you pray that I can find someone to help me take care of her during the week while I'm at work. I know that's a lot requests in one, but I also know the effectiveness of the prayers of the righteous.
God bless each of you and thank you so much for your prayers!

 Re: Prayer for my Mom
My prayers are going out for you and your Mom!
It's tough, I know. Until this year, my tough 87 yr old ma had never had surgery, has all of her own teeth, has never had a cold, smoked until she about 75 yrs old, goes out dancing with her boyfriend 5 nights a week, has a drink or 2 now then still....well...... she got into a bad car accident in the spring...broke her hip and shattered the same side ankle. She was in surgery for 5 hours and had to go to rehab for 2 months ~ poor staff! Anyway, it was tough as she is a 3 hour drive away from me. Thank goodness her boyfriend (also 87) was and is there to take care of her. She's outlived 3 husbands, 2 children, 2 son-n-laws, and a daughter-n-law. Emotionally, she's suffered many losses. She refuses to live with any of us...as she has such an active social life where she is. Well, she's back on the dance floor!!!!!

 Re: Prayer for my Mom
Hi everybody...Terri I feel for your Mom. Praise God it was her arm and not a leg (if it had to happen). My Mom fell in her bedroom and broke her arm and leg and never fully recovered. Sadly that was the beginning of the end for her. I prayed as soon as I got the notice in my email and I pray your Mom has a painless, speedy recovery. Christy your Mom is a very fortunate woman....out dancing 5 nights a week and smoking all those years?!! Even after her accident? She must be Wonder Woman! They should have a senior citizen "Dancing with the Stars", she would win for sure :D

 Re: Prayer for my Mom
No Senior Dancing With the Stars for her...in her mind she's still young and cute...lol....I think this is her secret...denial! She just can't understand why her hair is thinning or why she still limps. But, lol, she says she doesn't limp when she dances. She laughs when tell her, "If they drop the bomb, all that will be left are the roaches and Mom". Yes, she has enough of a wacky sense of humor to think this is funny. I do see some decline lately and know that I will look back on this post one day when she's no longer here, and I'll smile. Unless she outlives me of course.

 Re: Prayer for my Mom
Pastor David, Sisters Christy & Debra (And other prayer warriors!)
Thank you so much for your prayers. We took my mom to another hospital yesterday where they admitted her and scheduled her for surgery. She had surgery this morning and the doctor said it went very well. She'll be in the hospital 2 to 3 days. She was in an extreme amount of pain yesterday, which was difficult to watch her go through. She is a tough woman and can tolerate a lot of pain. She went through a broken ankle when my brothers and I were kids, has undergone chemo and surgery twice for cancer, and has had to put up with the stupid things I've done to myself over the years. :o As I was caring for her today after her surgery she told me "Well, I guess it's payback time for you!" lol. She does have a sense of humor. She has had a double mastectomy, and I guess when she went to the ER on Friday, her prostheses fell on the floor. She told the nurses then, "Oh, they always told me my boobs would hit the floor when I was old. lol. Guess I must of arrived at old age!" lol.
Please pray that my mom does get some rest while she's in the hospital. I can't stay with her as I have to work, and the hospital is over an hour away. She's got a roomie that is not considerate of others, and makes a lot of noise. She got on my nerves just the few hours I had to be around her today, so I can just imagine what she must be like at night. I noticed that her voice seemed to raise in octaves and decimals when she'd realize my mom was sleeping. So, pray for Virginia also, that she will feel the need to rest and get the attention she so desparately seems to crave.
Christy, your mom does sound like a super woman! That's great that she is so healthy. She sounds a bit like my great-grandmother who lived to be 102. She didn't go out dancing, but she gardened well into her 90's and walked all over town since she didn't have a driver's license. She didn't start going down hill until her kids moved her out of her little house into an apartment, because they were afraid that she was going to hurt herself out in the garden. I hope I stay as healthy and alert as she did, but I have no desire to stick around on this planet until I'm 100. I know I have a better home than here. :D I'll stick around down here as long as the LORD wants me to though.
Thanks again for the prayers!

 Re: Prayer for my Mom
Oh Terri, I'm so happy to hear that your Mom's surgery was successfull, and that she's holding on to her sense of humor. It is so hard to see our Moms go through these things. I will continue to pray for her comfort and quick healing. I'll be praying for you too as I know this is stressfull. I'm with you about not caring to live to be 100.
