 Painting from April
Mothers Day weekend May 2010... I gave myself a Mother's Day present....a weekend at my favorite Florida beach, and my childhood stomping grounds. From an ocean front with balcony near the Jupiter Inlet, I watched the dolphin and sharks at sunrise. Snorkeled the beautiful crystal clear water at Blowing Rock. Visited with the fisherman and pelicans who were fishing off of the jetty. I have love for these and for this place, and a profound sorrow thinking of what could happen and bitter anger towards those who put them in such dire danger. Christy Painted April 2010

 Re: Painting from April
Maybe someday I`ll meet you. Although I love the FL west coast , I got the opportunity to work a short term east coast assignment near there in March and April at Palm Beach Gardens. Worked night shift and got to take a dip in the Atlantic before going to work on some nights. Beautiful ! Back on the west coast now and love it. Wonder what the future holds as far as the oil working its way here (Crystal River) ? I feel the need to be flexible and be ready to travel wherever I need to to work.
I would still love to have a vacation getaway inland somewhere, and a second home , if need be. Still like the thought of Tennessee somewhere, as its not too far north but away from the potential troubles that may come from living near the FL coasts.
Would welcome potential neighbors from FL or elsewhere . Are ya ready for that retreat location yet Christy ? :)

 Re: Painting from April
Hi Bestucan, The Crystal River and Homasassa area is beautiful and I love it's funky old Florida style. I'm praying for the well being of the gulf and for the whole ocean for that matter. The Jupiter area is a bit cold. with everything so planned and controlled. This is because there's so much money there, so exclusive. The working class neighborhoods have lots and lots of Guatemalans which at least harbors real community. But I love the South FL Atlantic coast and the Juno/Jupiter beaches. Have you checked out north central Florida? From Ocala on up is really nice. Tennessee and The Appalachian area is great too. But gee, they've had their share of probs lately too. I've been keeping an eye out for a good bug out spot, but haven't gotten a clear idea of where that might be, so I've been sitting tight here in middle Florida. Speaking of islands, one of my fav places is Andros Island in the Bahamas...check it out sometime. It's time for me to try and get the paint out from under my fingernails, gotta go to work in the morning. Christy

 Re: Painting from April
Hi Christy,
Yeah the SE FL coastal area where I was was so densely populated and commercialized where I was in Palm Beach Gardens. Big money, beautiful yachts, exclusive gated communities everywhere. I enjoyed the change for a short time and opportunity to visit a new coastal area, while making a living at the same time. Where I worked was only a 10 minute drive to a state park, right on the ocean. Bought a yearly state park pass so I could visit frequently and take an ocean dip.
I am actually in Ocala right now and working on the west coast. Small world, eh ? Am gearing up for some potential out of state work possibly this summer.
Although I haven`t done it in a while , I love to visit Cedar Key and camp and fish there. Its so beautiful. The no-see-ums like me a lot there sometimes too, depending on the seabreeze. Used to kayak there a bit, among other places in FL. If ya want to get together for a kayak and / or camping trip some time , let me know.
A girl I work with sold her 150 acre farm in lower central Tennessee when she got divorced. That area of Tennessee sounds like a nice area too, for a "vacation station". Gotta be far enough away from rivers and potential flood areas , I guess, to live there safely... as we`ve seen lately in Nashville with the Cumberland River. She and her current husband live on a boat at a marina in Crystal River. Nice , eh ?
If we could pool our thoughts , maybe we could come up with a nice second area to be able to go to for vacation or whatever floats yer boat.
Have a nice day at work. I`m off today so I may take a run to Jax today to go shopping for some long term food storage/ prep supplies and other junk.

 Re: Painting from April
Where do you go in JAX for supplies? Whoa, just stumbled on a Winnebago on eBay listing at $5,000. If I didn't have 2 big doggies who need their fenced in yard, I could go for camp ground living. Always dreaming...lol.

 Re: Painting from April
Hi Christy,
I must be so computer illiterate , but I absolutely cannot figure out this site . Frustrating. I got an email, responded to it directly. Did it go to you ? Then I logged on here and it said I have a connection, hit the read button and nothing. Way too complicated for my pea brain. Glad I didn`t apply for that NASA astronaut spot I saw in the classifieds.
Oh well . Got some food at Sam`s club on my visit to Jax. Wanted to meet up with a friend there but couldn`t get a hold of them on short notice. Love to go to Anastasia State Park and Fernandina when up that way.
Ebay is good sometimes isn`t it ? Are you wanting to get an RV ? Maybe my chit-chat would be better directly emailed, as I don`t think everyone here is oh so interested in my activities on my days off. :)

I'm techie impaired as well...hehehe. Anyway, you're right about carrying on a personal conversation here on the forum. I'll figure out a way to give my email address without making it public here. Christy
