 hypnosis
This may be a silly question, but: Is shallow self-hypnosis an objectionable practice in God's sight? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

 Re: hypnosis
Define what you mean by "shallow self-hypnosis"...

 Re: hypnosis
O.k.
As far as I know, there's no way to go into a very deep trance under self-hypnosis; so the "shallow" qualifier is really redundant. But I'm talking about a tape one would record an play back to one's self, in order to relax to the point of daydreaming, then suggest improvements ("I'm confident!" etc.) It's supposed to program the subconscious mind. An undertaking which I have (since I made this post) decided is probably wasteful of time, at the very least.
Screwing around with the "subconscious mind" is seeming more and more to me like an arrogant, dangerous thing to do.
Self-hypnosis is one of the kind of tertiary concepts that's been a little slower to drop out of my readjusted-back-to-biblical world view. I totally bought into an Edgar Cayce/Shirley McClain, Eastern/Western blend, "Every Religion Basically Has the Same Deity!" kind of view, for a while. According to that view, I could take or leave what bits of scripture I wanted because the Catholic church had made the Bible their tool to rule; it only occurred to me fairly recently that God might be protective of his scripture. And that He wouldn't leave it up to me to sort through what I remembered from the 5th grade (went to Lutheran school til 5th) and and then DECIDE WHAT WAS VALID (that would really swearword the universe completely up.)
So, anyway, I apologize if your time is wasted; but thanks so much for replying to my question (I honestly thought it was a good one at that time.)
