LLMs FOURTH RULE: The Prayer That The Body of Christ Should NOT Pray PDF Print E-mail
PastorDavid

Down through the centuries many sincere Children of God have spoken this prayer, "Come, Lord Jesus; come quickly" but we, at The Lion and Lamb Ministry have not joined them in this, and will not.

Unless I be misunderstood, let me explain that we, personally, long to see and be with our blessed The LORD Jesus Christ, and if we were to think only of ourselves we would have Him come NOW! Without further delay.

But this continued absence of our The LORD Jesus Christ, in Grace, is the special subject of Paul's epistles. Take a look at what The Apostle Peter states:

"AND ACCOUNT THAT THE LONGSUFFERING OF OUR LORD IS SALVATION; EVEN AS OUR BELOVED BROTHER PAUL ALSO ACCORDING TO THE WISDOM GIVEN UNTO HIM HATH WRITTEN UNTO YOU; AS ALSO IN ALL HIS EPISTLES, SPEAKING IN THEM OF THESE THINGS..." 2 Peter 3:15-16 .

How gracious has The LORD Jesus Christ, been in delaying His return for His own and the judgment to follow! How gracious to extend the Day of Grace until now! Now that we are saved we would OF COURSE want to be with the One we love and long for, but how grateful we should be that He waited for us, to not only be BORN, but also for that day when we would be RE-BORN! You See, you do not know which Child of God, Chosen in The LORD Jesus Christ, BEFORE the Foundations of the world, who will be born today, tomorrow, next week, month, or year! THEY will NEED to hear the Gospel of Grace, just like YOU!

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! So then Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Romans 1:14-17

Therefore, how EAGER we should be to win others to Him while He waits still longer!

So, as we consider the lost around us, we simply cannot, in all good consciousness, implore The LORD Jesus Christ, to "come quickly" though His coming for us is indeed a "blessed hope" and we remain on the alert for it to take place at any time.

Now, an important point to make note of, in this connection, it is interesting to observe that the prayer, "Come, Lord Jesus" and its counterpart "How long!" are both "Great Tribulation" prayers, uttered by the saints, who are NOT part of the BODY of Christ, who will live during that dreadful time of God's wrath. Both are found in the Book of the Revelation and both are in connection with The LORD Jesus Christ, return to EARTH, not into the AIR, to JUDGE and REIGN, and NOT in connection with the Rapture, The Harpazo.

In both Revelation 2:5 and Revelation 2:16 our The LORD Jesus Christ, says, "Repent...or else I will come unto thee quickly", meaning to judge. In Revelation 3:11 He writes to the assembly at Philadelphia, but again in warning: "Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown."

Revelation 22:7 and Revelation 22:12 are used in the same way, indicating that in that day only those who are "overcomers" will long for The LORD Jesus Christ, to come and put an end to the world's rebellion. Thus John closes The Book of Revelation with the declaration, "He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly", and the response, "Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus" Revelation 22:20 .

So There You Have It!

May we stop and think about what we are saying when we say "come quickly." Many would perish if Jesus would answer our prayer at that moment. Though I long to see my Savior, I want many more to experience the hope of glory that awaits those of us who love the LORD. Thank you for yet another excellent message, Pastor David!

Excellent exhortation Pastor David. We all live in a generaton where the believing community longs for the Second Coming of Christ via the Rapture first. We sit around talking about signs but seldom talk about what it will be like when the age of GRACE is over, when that last Jewish or Gentile person gets regenerated by the Holy Spirit and completes that last stone of the Body of Christ. It will NOT be a happy day on the EARTH! Amos spoke volumes to Christians of our day when he said,
Amos 5:18-19 (Today's New International Version)
18 Woe to you who long
for the day of the LORD!
Why do you long for the day of the LORD?
That day will be darkness, not light. 19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him.
[ I have been guilty in the past of this very thing but the LORD has shown me it is wrong to desire to "hasten" His coming.] But now I long in my heart for time to fulfill ALL that God wants me to do, that He has forordained for me to complete that will glorify him. EVERY believer has something that GOD wants them to do for His glory :-)
Ephesians 2:10 is going to be the the anthem of my sunset years in life! May the LORD be exalted and magnified for His Grace and Mercy! 8)
Ephesians 2:10 (King James Version)
"10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." ALL of us are important in God eyes to serve Him NOW by faith. We will have eternity to glorify Him in His presence! Let us shout a warning to our generation of God's grace in light of the Judgment to come!

Oh I think we are splitting hairs here. We can pray that the Lord will come soon knowing full well that He knows when the right time is. Our prayer is more of an expression of that we yearn to be with him. He is not going to suddenly say, "Well, since they pray that, I will change my plans and to heck with all the rest." He is bigger than that.

Why would you pray in a way that, during this Dispensation of Grace, you know is contrary to the will of God, Who during this Age is building the ONE New Man, the Body of Christ? The LORD will return to meet His Body in the air, AFTER that last member has been Baptized, by the Holy Spirit, into the Body of Christ. 8)

Wow... I never thought about it like this. How selfish we seem to be when we pray this way!
Thank you Pastor David for showing me the error of my ways and with your permission, may I post this in the Christian Forum that I own? There are so many who say this and one member in particular whom I know and love. She lives in Romania. Thank you again so much! I am so very glad that Adele introduced me to this site!

The epistles or letters in the Book of Revelation are NOT addressed to the Body of Christ, the Church of the Mystery of this Age of Grace. They are addressed to those future assemblies that will be here after the Body is Raptured.

The letters to the seven churches appear before the 'come up hither' of Rev. 4 (symbolic of the Rapture?)Additionally, it would require some Scripture-twisting to make Rev. 3:10 apply to a post-rapture congregation. the crowns symbolize not our salvation, but our rewards for our service in Christ, which could be undermined by others if we are not watchful. I hope this helps. Grace and Peace

I apologize for the 'scripture-twisting' remark. After re-reading it I realized that it was rather flippant and disrespectful. I ask for your forgiveness. If my understanding of the letters to the seven churches is wrong, I pray that the Lord will open the eyes of my understanding as I watch your revelation series. I love your site and I am in agreement with your statement of beliefs. Thank you for your understanding.

Please take a few moments to watch our videos on this very subject at lionandlambministry.com/.../...

That series is an examination of the "churches" of Revelation 2 and Revelation 3 , and that in fact they are NOT the Body of Christ. But future assemblies of Jewish believers that will be HERE after The Harpazo, after the Church has been caught up to meet The LORD in the air. The letters to these assemblies, when read carefully, differ immensely from the Pauline epistles. The Revelation Epistles are addressed to servants and speak of works and judgment, while the Pauline Epistles are addressed to SONS and Daughters and speak of our standing IN Christ, as His Body, by GRACE. And it was to PAUL, not the 12 Apostles that the Mystery was shown and explained.

Therefore, The Ecclesia, The Church, is the BODY of Christ, and cannot be Israel, or the Wife, or The Bride. For we are part of the BrideGROOM. We are IN Christ. This is the MYSTERY that was withheld, and hid IN God, from ALL of the prophets, and revealed to Paul. We are even NOW forever connected to the GROOM, IN Christ and He in us.

I hope this helps.

Pastor David

I've been thinking about this topic for awhile now. I do not think it is "wrong" to pray for the Lord to come quickly, but I do feel it is useless as the Lord will not come one nanosecond sooner than scheduled. However we do need to be honest with the Lord, as Jesus Himself was in the Garden. "Lord let this cup pass from me..." The longer that the dispensation of grace continues, the apostasy in the church will grow. More and more souls will end up in an eternity separated from God. It is not sinful to want God to "make things right asap", but its hypocritical religiousity to want in your heart for the rapture to happen now, but pray instead "Oh Lord delay your coming so more souls will be saved" If we cant be honest with God about the desires of our hearts, we have a big problem. Yes, the longer He waits the more souls will be saved, but even more will be lost due to the failure and apostasy of the church. But not to worry, God knows what He's doing and His timing is perfect. Dont try to pray as you "should"(that leads to hypocrisy) instead pray in faith as the Spirit leads you! Grace and Peace!

Dear Brother Jim,

To the manner of of yoru reply, I agree. We need always pray openly and honestly to our Heavenly Father.

The purpose of this message, The Fourth Rule, is to have members of the Body of Christ, while in prayer, to be focussing on GOD's Will and Plans and NOT on our own. Our Heavenly Father ALREADY knows what we need...

"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seekSmile for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:25-34

Grace be to you and peace, from God: our Father, and The LORD Jesus Christ.

Pastor David

Amen to that! Ive takken up the habit of praying the same prayers the Apostle Paul made for the Body. Even though I see the Church's failure as a foregone conclusion, thats no excuse for those of us who know better to be slack in the ministry of reconciliation, especially in these times. I believe the Rapture is very close. No I dont believe in this supposed "end-time revival" thats so popular now. Its more like a "last call"! If we believe its close, we should redouble our effots!

Grace and Peace

Pastor David, I am thankful for all the teachings from Scripture and the lessons that need to be learned. I lean on Philippian 1:6 and thank my Lord for His Mercy and Grace in my weak life. Grace and Peace in Christ, Ken
